Dr. Hossein Ghazavi was the Vice Governor of Economic Affairs at the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran and also was lecturing courses on ‘Money and Banking’, ‘Macroeconomics’, ‘Microeconomics’, ‘Comparative Banking’, ‘Islamic Banking’ and “International Banking” in various universities of Tehran, before the appointment as the President of the ECO Bank. Previously, he had served as the First Vice-Governor of the Central Bank. Prior to his post at the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Ghazavi had served as a Board Member of Export Development Bank (2006-2007). He had been the Director General of the Office of Loans, International Organizations (2005-2006) at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance. Between years of 2003-2005, Dr. Ghazavi was holding both positions as an Advisor to the Minister and the Director General of the Office for Performance Evaluation at the Ministry.
Dr. Ghazavi had been a member of International Ad Hoc Committee for Draft Convention against Corruption held in Vienna (2001-2003). For several years, he served as Director General of the Office for Monetary and Commercial Policies at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance of the Islamic Republic of Iran (2001-1996). Dr. Hossein Ghazavi received his post graduate degree in Economics. The topic of his thesis was ‘European Economic Unity, Assessment of Its Effects on Iran Trade Models’. He presented his doctorate dissertation on ‘An Assessment of Effects of Monetary Policy on Business Cycles in Line with Strengthening the National Security’. Dr. Ghazavi has various researches and authored a 2 volume book on ‘Money, Banking and Financial Markets’, ‘Inflationary Tax of Dollar’ and ‘Open Market Operations within Islamic Framework’. He was awarded by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran with a Plaque of Appreciation for a Paper on Economic Implications of Money Laundering (2004) and with a Multiple Plaques of Appreciation by Ministers (2002-2006).
Dr. Ghazavi has command over English, Arabic and French languages.

Dr. Yaşar Akgün graduated from Turkey’s influential Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University in 1978. He started his career as Treasury Controller at the Turkish Treasury. With this job his main responsibilities were to conduct audits, examinations, inspections and investigations regarding financial regulations. Parallel to his bureaucratic engagements he realized academic studies. He obtained his MA degree on monetary economics from Northeastern University, ( Boston, USA, 1985), his PhD degree on currency convertibility from İstanbul University (1991) and his Associate Professor of Economic Policy title from the Inter-Universities Board of Turkey(1996). He made research on foreign exchange risk management in London, UK, (1988-89, one year). Mr. Akgün taught Foreign Exchange Risk Management at Marmara University (1992-96). He served as Economic Counsellor to the Ambassador, Turkish Embassy, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (1996-99). He participated training on International Accounting and Auditing Standards at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, (July-October 2002). He served as a member of the Board of Directors at Telsim AŞ (currently Vodafone Turkey) responsible for financial management and external relations (Feb. 2004-May 2006). He had been Chairman of the Board of Treasury Controllers and Head of Audit Authority for EU Funds, the Turkish Treasury, since October 2007 before his appointment as Vice-President of the Bank on June 3rd, 2011.

The Board of Directors of the Bank appointed Nadeem Karamat as VP for a five-year term and he took the office on February 1, 2007. Mr. Nadeem draws over 23 years of experience with the Bank of America & American Express Bank Ltd. Before joining the Bank he was the Country Manager of American Express Bank Ltd. in Pakistan and prior to this he has served as the Country Manager of the same bank from 1997 to 2000 in Lebanon. As a senior banking professional in the financial sector environment he took honorary positions such as the President of American Business Council in Pakistan ( majority of member companies are fortune 500 companies ), as an Executive Committee member of the Pakistan Banks’ Association and Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He has immensely contributed towards reformatory procedures, good corporate governance and fostering public/private sector partnerships for development of sound business practices. He has also served: on the Board of Directors of IGI Investment Bank (formerly First Inter Investment Bank and formerly joint venture between American Express Bank Ltd. Packages Group and IFC), on the Board of Intellectual Property Rights (appointed by the Government of Pakistan). He is a member of the Board of Governors of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS, ranked as one of the top Pakistani Universities offering degrees in Business Management and Information Technology). Nadeem holds Bachelors of Commerce degree from Hailey College of Commerce, University of Punjab, Pakistan and BS in Management and MBA degree in Finance from Golden Gate University, San Franscisco, CA, USA.
