ECO Trade and Development Bank Signed Loan Agreement with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM)

10/20/2010

On October 18, 2010, the ECO Trade and Development Bank signed an agreement with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) extending it a loan of USD 35 million to further develop the city’s public transport network. The proceeds of this loan would be used for procuring locomotives and rolling stock that would service the southern extension of the metro line running from Taksim to Yenikapi. This line will connect the metro system with the Marmaray Project, the Bosphorus railway tunnel crossing, thus linking metro networks in two, European and Anatolian, parts of the city.

Yenikapi is envisaged to be a multi-modal transfer station for city’s public transport system providing single point connection to metro, commuter railway, and sea-bus networks of the city.
